HOUSTON, Texas — Former President Donald Trump has granted pardons to individuals linked to the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol, including several from the Houston area.

At least 18 individuals from Houston have faced legal action in connection with the Capitol unrest, having been arrested, indicted, or convicted on charges related to the events of that day.

The January 6 incident occurred when a large group of protesters stormed the Capitol building to disrupt the certification of the 2020 presidential election results, resulting in damage, disruptions, and the loss of lives.

The attack led to numerous arrests across the country, as law enforcement sought to hold those responsible accountable.

The individuals from Houston are among those who faced charges ranging from unlawful entry and obstruction of an official proceeding to more serious allegations such as assaulting law enforcement officers.

The pardons, granted by Trump, have shifted the legal outcomes for these individuals, halting ongoing proceedings and nullifying sentences for those already convicted.
