A Southwest Airlines flight preparing for departure at Dallas Love Field was struck by gunfire. The incident occurred around 9:50 p.m. as the plane was readying to head to Indianapolis. Southwest Airlines confirmed that the bullet hit the right side of the aircraft. Dallas police sources confirmed that 99 passengers were aboard at the time, but no injuries were reported.

After the plane was hit, it taxied back to the terminal without any incidents. The runway was temporarily closed to allow law enforcement to conduct an investigation into the shooting. Southwest Airlines announced that they would assist passengers in continuing their journey on another flight. The aircraft involved in the incident has been removed from service for further examination.

Dallas police are actively investigating the shooting. They have not identified any suspects or made any arrests. Officials have not disclosed how many bullets may have struck the plane or provided details on the perpetrator’s possible motive.

Love Field Airport authorities confirmed that operations at the airport resumed soon after. They cooperated with law enforcement throughout the initial investigation. The airport is maintaining heightened security measures to ensure passenger safety.

WFAA reported that the flight, operated by Southwest Airlines, was in the early stages of taxiing on the tarmac when the incident occurred. Southwest Airlines spokespersons have assured that their focus remains on the safety and well-being of their passengers and crew. The airline is cooperating fully with the authorities in their investigation.

This shooting incident did not cause any delays to subsequent flights at Love Field, as the airport resumed normal operations once investigations permitted. Passengers affected by the incident spoke to local media, expressing relief that no injuries occurred. Some voiced concerns about airport security, but many praised the swift response by the airline and law enforcement.

Dallas Love Field is one of the city’s major airports, handling numerous flights daily. It’s unclear how this incident might affect broader security measures, both at Love Field and other regional airports.

The investigation is ongoing. Dallas police have urged anyone with information related to the shooting to come forward. They continue to assess the threat level and are working closely with state and federal agencies to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) was informed of the incident. They are monitoring the situation in collaboration with local authorities. The FAA has not issued any special directives to airlines or airports in the aftermath of the event. However, officials remain vigilant and ready to implement additional measures if deemed necessary.
