LUBBOCK, Texas — A new $7.8 million indoor athletic complex is under construction in South Lubbock and aims to provide year-round basketball and volleyball opportunities for athletes across West Texas.
The Forge Athletic Complex will span 63,000 square feet near the intersection of Milwaukee Avenue and 104th Street. Construction started in July, with the facility scheduled to open in September 2027, according to project information filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
The complex will include six basketball courts and nine volleyball courts. Plans also call for hardwood performance flooring, retractable net systems, spectator seating, electronic scoreboards and customizable lighting.
Adrain Davis, a partner and general manager of The Forge, said the facility will focus on athlete development while providing a gathering place for families and teams.
“The Forge Athletics Facility is being built with a bigger purpose — to create a place where kids can develop, families can connect, teams can compete, and our entire community can come together,” Davis said in a social media post.
Davis also oversees West Texas Breeze Basketball, a Lubbock youth player development and training program, and holds a USA Basketball coaching license. West Texas Breeze plans to use The Forge after the facility opens in 2027.
Facility plans year-round sports programming
The Forge plans to host youth tournaments, leagues and training programs throughout the year. The facility also plans to accommodate adult leagues and other competitive events.
The complex will give organizers enough court space to hold multiple basketball and volleyball activities at the same time, with seating and event technology designed to support larger competitions.
Milwaukee 104, LLC owns the property, while Seventeen Services serves as the project’s design firm, according to the TDLR filing.
The facility will sit in South Lubbock near Milwaukee Avenue and 104th Street and will serve athletes and teams from Lubbock and communities across West Texas.
