HOUSTON — Texas Children’s Hospital ranked No. 1 among pediatric hospitals in the Southwest and earned a place on the 2026-2027 U.S. News & World Report Best Children’s Hospitals Honor Roll.
The Houston hospital also ranked No. 1 nationally in pediatric cardiology and heart surgery, according to the annual rankings.
Texas Children’s placed among the nation’s top five in several specialties. It ranked No. 3 in pediatric neurology and neurosurgery and No. 5 in both neonatology and pediatric orthopedics.
Texas Children’s earns Honor Roll recognition
Texas Children’s joined 10 other hospitals from eight states and Washington, D.C., on the 2026-2027 Best Children’s Hospitals Honor Roll.
The rankings mark the 20th edition of U.S. News’ annual evaluation of pediatric hospitals.
Ben Harder, chief of health analysis and managing editor at U.S. News, said the rankings provide families and pediatricians with a starting point when they seek care for rare conditions or complex medical procedures.
How U.S. News evaluated hospitals
U.S. News and RTI International analyzed clinical data from 114 children’s hospitals and surveyed thousands of pediatric specialists for the 2026-2027 rankings.
The evaluation considered factors including clinical outcomes, compliance with established best practices and the level and quality of hospital resources directly related to patient care.
U.S. News recognized 90 children’s hospitals across 34 states and Washington, D.C.
The evaluation covered 11 pediatric specialties, including pediatric and adolescent behavioral health programs for the third consecutive year.
