CALASIAO, Pangasinan — Former Ilocos Sur governor Luis ‘Chavit’ Singson declined to identify the complainant in the cyberlibel case filed against him, saying only that the individual had previously sought his assistance but later filed a complaint against him.

In an interview with Bombo Radyo Laoag on June 11, Singson said the complainant had turned against him despite receiving help.

Without naming the individual, Singson suggested that the case was related to allegations of corruption that he had made involving government officials.

Authorities arrested Singson on Thursday at his residence in Barangay Ugong Norte, Quezon City, based on a warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court of Vigan City Branch 21 for alleged violation of Section 4(c) in relation to Section 6 of Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.

The arrest warrant, dated June 10, 2026, set bail at P60,000.

Singson said he posted bail following his arrest. He also questioned the status of plunder complaints he had previously filed, asking why authorities had not acted on them.

The former governor alleged that investigations involving influential individuals were not being pursued and reiterated his calls for accountability in government.

Singson further expressed concern over alleged corruption and the country’s debt burden, saying public officials involved in wrongdoing should be held accountable through legal processes.

The cyberlibel case remains pending before the court.
