MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine women’s national football team qualified for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup after its performance in the 2026 AFC Women’s Asian Cup, the Philippine Football Federation said, as it outlined preparations for the tournament in Brazil.

Head coach Mark Torcaso said the team’s objective is to compete beyond the group stage, not simply participate in the World Cup.

Torcaso said the team’s qualification follows its second consecutive World Cup berth and a rise to No. 39 in the FIFA rankings.

He said the squad used a structured approach during the Asian Cup campaign, relying on defensive organization and execution against higher-ranked opponents such as Australia and South Korea.

Torcaso said the team will begin a series of international matches starting in June, using FIFA international windows to face opponents from multiple regions in preparation for the World Cup.

He said preparation will also focus on maintaining player fitness and performance at club level, alongside national team training.

John Anthony Gutierrez said the federation’s support system includes coordination with clubs and coaches to sustain player development and performance.

Gutierrez said the federation’s programs, including training camps such as a pre-tournament camp in Balesin, contributed to the team’s preparation and results.

The Philippines’ squad includes a mix of experienced players and younger call-ups, including Jael Guy, Nina Meollo, Alexa Pino, and Ari Markey, who have featured in recent continental competitions.

The team will continue its buildup ahead of the 2027 World Cup in Brazil.
