AUSTIN, Texas — Austin residents with unpaid citations or outstanding warrants can take advantage of a warrant amnesty program from March 23 through April 17, offered by the Austin Municipal Court and Austin Community Court. The initiative allows individuals to resolve their cases without facing arrest or additional warrant fees.
During the program, warrant fees will be waived for those who address active warrants, and no officers will be sent to take anyone into custody. Participants can also access payment plans, community service options, or hardship waivers if they cannot pay immediately.
“We want members of the public who have outstanding warrants or unpaid citations to feel comfortable coming to talk to us in person or contacting us by phone or email to discuss their options,” said Mary Jane Grubb, clerk of the court. “We are here to remove barriers and help individuals resolve outstanding matters before the court.”
The program, first launched in 2018, has been held annually except for a two-year pause during the COVID-19 pandemic. Last year, it helped clear 1,854 outstanding warrants and terminate 17,905 civil parking citations.
Residents can attend walk-in dockets without appointments at the main court location at 6800 Burleson Road:
- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday: 8:30 a.m.–11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.–3:30 p.m.
- Thursday: 8:30 a.m.–11 a.m., 1:30 p.m.–3:30 p.m., and 6 p.m.–8 p.m.
Community Court cases will be heard at 505 Barton Springs Road, with Spanish interpreters available, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m.–11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.–3:30 p.m.
The program provides a chance for residents to resolve legal issues proactively while avoiding further penalties or arrest.
