CARMONA, Cavite — The Southwoods Invitational begins Monday with 466 two-man teams competing over six days at the Manila Southwoods Golf and Country Club in Carmona, Cavite.
A total of 932 players will take part in the 36-hole tournament, with rounds played on the Masters and Legends courses in the club’s member-guest competition.
Last year’s overall gross champions, the father-and-son team of Ryan Abdon and John Kier Abdon, return this year with different partners.
Defending champions in other divisions include Abigail Lapid and Sarah Cruz in Division II, and Romeo Chong and Ralph Chong in Division IV.
Organizers said the field surpasses last year’s 414-team participation. Teams will compete for the overall gross and overall net titles, along with championships in Divisions I to V and a Guests/Sponsors category.
Play will start with sequential tee times at 6 a.m. from Monday through Friday before shifting to shotgun starts on Saturday at 7 a.m. on the Masters course and 7:30 a.m. on the Legends course.
The tournament will use a team aggregate format under the modified Stableford scoring system.
Hole-in-one prizes will be offered on designated holes, with three cars available as awards.
