$6.8M cocaine bust made at Texas border in flower shipment

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers seized more than $6.8 million worth of cocaine this week at the Laredo Port of Entry.

The seizure occurred Tuesday, Feb. 10, at the World Trade Bridge when a CBP officer flagged a 2018 T3 International tractor-trailer carrying a shipment labeled as “roses/fresh flowers” for secondary inspection.

After a canine screening and non-intrusive inspection, officers found 211 concealed packages containing a total of 516.76 pounds of suspected cocaine. Authorities estimated the street value of the narcotics at $6,899,798.

The drugs were confiscated, and Homeland Security Investigations special agents are now investigating the case.
