MANILA, Philippines — Cynthia Villar’s camp on Tuesday addressed the viral altercation involving her subdivision’s homeowners association, claiming the group illegally installed a “No U-Turn” sign and bollards in front of her property without prior notice or proper authorization.
In a statement on her official Facebook account, Villar’s team said the incident occurred after the sign and bollards were placed on her property, allegedly under the direction of officers from the BF Resort Village Homeowners Association. The former senator requested clarification from the person in charge, but the situation escalated.
“Instead of a constructive dialogue, some individuals trespassed on F/Sen. Villar’s property, provoked and escalated the situation, took videos, and circulated these edited and malicious videos on various digital platforms,” her camp said.
Villar’s office also noted that the involved homeowners association board has been declared illegal by the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development, the Human Settlement Adjudication Commission, and the Court of Appeals. “As such, any actions taken or decisions made by this group lack proper authority,” the statement said.
Her camp added that the sudden traffic change caused worsened congestion, safety concerns, and property damage. “Residents have the right to be informed and consulted on matters that directly affect access, traffic flow, safety, and daily mobility within the community,” Villar’s team said, calling for due process, transparency, and respect for lawful procedures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
