MANILA, Philippines — Actress and content creator Bea Borres shared that her newborn daughter carries her surname, calling the decision one of her proudest moments as a single mother.

In a Facebook post on January 31, Borres showed her child’s certificate of live birth, which lists the baby’s name as “Victoria Hope Borres.” The portion referring to the father was marked as not applicable.

“Being called a single mother never really bothered me because I’m confident and know what I’m capable of & one of the proudest moments of my life as a woman was choosing to give my daughter my last name,” Borres wrote.

Borres gave birth on December 15 but announced the news only earlier this week, surprising her followers. She previously said she would not disclose the identity of her baby’s father and plans to raise her child with support from loved ones.

Addressing criticism often directed at single mothers, Borres wrote, “I still don’t get the shame and hatred towards single mothers, we never wanted to be one in the first place.”

Her post drew supportive messages from friends and followers, with many praising her strength and sharing their own experiences with single parenthood.

Earlier, Borres revealed that her daughter spent 44 days in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit before coming home. She has also chosen to hide her child’s face in photos to protect her privacy.

The decision prompted online speculation, including a comment accusing her of being ashamed of her baby’s appearance. Borres responded that she is not ready to expose her child to the public and reminded family and friends not to share photos without permission.

She ended her message with a note of gratitude and optimism, writing that she hopes for a positive year ahead while keeping her daughter’s life private for now.
