MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has ordered biweekly monitoring of government agencies and their projects to ensure timely progress and accurate reporting, Palace press officer Claire Castro said Friday.

The directive came during a meeting with Marcos’ economic team at Malacañang. Castro said the President emphasized that submitted reports must not be false or “sugarcoated,” warning that officials who deliberately submit inaccurate information may face removal from office.

The specific mechanisms for the biweekly checks are still being developed. The meeting also addressed strategies to boost the economy through digitalization and to complete infrastructure projects, including classrooms, ahead of schedule.

Marcos’ announcement follows his signing of the P6.793-trillion national budget for 2026, during which he vowed to strengthen accountability, improve government systems, and combat corruption—efforts highlighted by recent revelations of irregularities in flood control projects.
