DALLAS — Margot Stacy, manager of White Rhino Coffee’s Downtown Dallas location, has resigned after claiming she was instructed to offer discounts to ICE agents, prompting nearly a dozen employees across the chain to quit in protest.

In a widely shared Instagram post, Stacy said the policy conflicted with her values as a transgender woman managing a largely Black and Hispanic staff. “How in the world can we invite them to the table and expect anything other than destruction? I will not be part of this,” she wrote.

White Rhino CEO Sara Escamilla clarified that the company’s first responder discount is intended for on-duty local responders such as police, firefighters, and EMTs, and does not apply to ICE officers. Escamilla said the policy is under review to provide clearer guidelines.

Stacy and her team acted after learning some ICE agents had previously received the discount at other locations. The controversy gained national attention after celebrity endorsements and social media shares, including from Kathy Griffin.

Escamilla emphasized the company’s commitment to inclusivity, while Stacy said her resignation and the staff walkout prompted the company to formally exclude ICE agents from the discount.
