MANILA, Philippines — Inday Barretto, the matriarch of the Barretto showbiz clan and the mother of actresses Claudine, Marjorie, and Gretchen Barretto, has died, her family confirmed Thursday. She was 89.

Her son Joaquin Barretto confirmed her death in a brief Facebook post late Thursday night, sharing an image of a candle against a black background with the caption, “Rest in peace, Mom. I love you.”

As of this writing, the family has not released further details regarding the cause of her death.

Inday Barretto was last seen publicly in October last year during a two-part interview with entertainment insider Ogie Diaz. In the interview, she spoke about allegations of sexual abuse involving her estranged husband, Raymart Santiago, and expressed her commitment to protecting her children.

Santiago denied the allegations in a statement issued through his legal counsel a day after the interview was released.

Inday Barretto was widely known for her close relationship with her children, particularly Claudine Barretto, and remained a prominent figure associated with one of Philippine show business’ most well‑known families.
