MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang said there is no need to issue a formal medical bulletin on President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., a week after his hospitalization for diverticulitis.

Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said a medical bulletin is typically reserved for serious illnesses, and Marcos’ own assurance that he feels well is more reliable. “It is probably more reliable to hear directly from the President himself about how he is feeling,” Castro added.

Since his hospitalization on January 21 at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Quezon City, Marcos has mostly stayed out of public view, participating only in private activities at Malacañang. He skipped some official ceremonies, with Executive Secretary Ralph Recto representing him.

Presidential Communications Office Acting Secretary Dave Gomez said Marcos is showing steady recovery but may occasionally remain out of public view while continuing to focus on critical duties.

The Palace also debunked unverified reports circulating on social media claiming Marcos’ condition had worsened, calling such claims “probably fabricated.”
