DALLAS — Friends, family, and fans gathered for a candlelight vigil Monday to honor Dallas rapper Zecqurie Fields, also known as Zeethewizard, who died following a New Year’s Day shooting outside Pinkhouse Dallas nightclub.
Fields was one of five people shot during the incident while performing at the club. He died in the hospital five days later. No arrests have been made, and Dallas police said detectives from multiple units are reviewing evidence and following up on leads.
During the vigil, speakers reflected on Fields’ impact on his community and loved ones. A local pastor said, “This life matters. His name still carries weight. We acknowledge tonight the grief, the anger, and the confusion that gun violence leaves behind.”
Friends highlighted Fields’ contributions, including a recent toy drive for children in his neighborhood. Jackie McQueen, a friend, said, “He has made a big impact on our lives, his children’s lives, his family life… It’s a tragic situation.” Another attendee added, “Eternity is the word for love. It lasts forever, even when you’re gone.”
Community members pledged to keep Fields’ legacy alive, honoring both his music and his acts of kindness.
