MINNEAPOLIS–ST. PAUL — The federal government has deployed about 2,000 Department of Homeland Security agents to the Minneapolis–Saint Paul area for immigration enforcement and a fraud investigation, officials said.

The personnel, drawn from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Customs and Border Protection, Homeland Security Investigations, and other DHS units, will conduct field investigations, document reviews, targeted enforcement actions, and interviews. Some will operate from local offices, while mobile teams will visit locations identified through investigative leads.

The operation is coordinated with the U.S. Attorney’s Office and other federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies. Officials did not disclose the exact locations or timeline of the deployment. DHS said agents are following current policies and guidelines for enforcement and evidence handling.
