MANILA, Philippines– The Department of Justice on Thursday announced that contractor Sally Santos returned P20 million to the national treasury from flood control projects under government implementation, according to an official statement.
The DOJ said its officials received the funds from Santos in coordination with concerned government agencies that oversee infrastructure and public works projects.
The department stated that the returned amount formed part of disbursements linked to flood control initiatives that authorities identified for recovery and remittance to the national treasury.
DOJ officials confirmed that they documented the turnover of the P20 million and transmitted the amount to the Bureau of the Treasury in accordance with existing government procedures.
The justice department said it continued to coordinate with investigative and auditing bodies to review transactions related to the flood control projects involving Santos.
Officials said the department would release further information on the case involving Santos and the flood control projects after it completes its ongoing evaluation and coordination with other agencies.
