HOUSTON — Texas Governor Greg Abbott on Friday endorsed Houston Professional Fire Fighters Association President Marty Lancton for Harris County judge and announced he will dedicate approximately $25 million to support Republican candidates in the county during the current election cycle.
Abbott made the endorsement during a public appearance in the Houston area, identifying Lancton as his preferred candidate for the county’s top executive position. Lancton currently leads the Houston firefighters union and is running as a Republican.
The $25 million pledge will fund advertising, voter outreach, and other campaign activities to boost Republican turnout in Harris County, the state’s most populous county. The county judge oversees the Commissioners Court and manages county government operations, including emergency response.
Election officials continue voter registration and outreach efforts ahead of Election Day, when Harris County voters will select the county judge and other local officeholders.
