MANILA, Philippines– President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Wednesday appointed Court of Tax Appeals (CTA) Associate Justice Ma. Belen Ringpis-Liban as the new presiding justice of the CTA, Malacañang announced.

Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said Marcos signed Ringpis-Liban’s appointment paper on Wednesday and released the decision to the media the same day.

Castro said the appointment aligns with the administration’s policy direction for the judiciary and underscored the role of CTA leadership in resolving tax-related cases that affect public trust and economic concerns.

Before her designation as presiding justice, Ringpis-Liban served as an associate justice of the Court of Tax Appeals.

The CTA said Ringpis-Liban previously served as a Regional Trial Court judge for 17 years, with assignments in Malolos and Quezon City.

Her professional background also includes positions as legal assistant at the Philippine National Construction Corporation and legal associate at the law firm Puruganan, Ongkiko & Chato.

Ringpis-Liban earned her Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of the Philippines College of Law and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics degree from the University of Santo Tomas.
