South Korea reported two new cases of highly pathogenic avian influenza on Wednesday at poultry farms in Cheonan and Anseong, bringing the total number of infections at domestic farms this season to 10, authorities said.
Agricultural officials identified the infections at a layer chicken farm in Cheonan, South Chungcheong Province, and a poultry farm in Anseong, Gyeonggi Province, after conducting diagnostic tests on suspected cases.
Quarantine measures were initiated at both farms immediately, and affected birds were culled following established disease control protocols. Movement control zones were established around the farms, and disinfection operations were carried out on surrounding facilities, vehicles, and equipment.
Temporary restrictions were imposed on the movement of poultry, farm workers, and related logistics in areas near Cheonan and Anseong to prevent further spread. Veterinary teams conducted epidemiological investigations at the farms and nearby areas to trace possible infection routes and identify additional suspected cases.
