BEXAR COUNTY, Texas — Authorities on Tuesday asked residents to help identify a suspected “porch pirate” believed to be linked to a series of package thefts in the Wildhorse area as holiday deliveries increase.

The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office said deputies recently received multiple reports of parcels stolen from front porches in the neighborhood northwest of San Antonio. Investigators said the suspect targets homes during daylight hours, taking packages shortly after delivery services drop them off.

Home surveillance footage submitted by residents shows a person walking up to porches, removing packages, and leaving with the items before entering a nearby vehicle, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Investigators are still analyzing the footage and have not released a detailed description of the suspect.

Authorities said they plan to share images or video clips on official channels once they confirm the material can help the public identify the individual.

Deputies urged Wildhorse residents to review doorbell cameras and home security systems for suspicious activity and to report any relevant footage to the Sheriff’s Office. Officials also encouraged residents to track deliveries closely, bring packages inside promptly, and use delivery instructions or less visible drop-off locations when possible.

Patrols in the Wildhorse area have been increased in response to the theft reports. Deputies are canvassing the neighborhood, gathering information from residents, and providing crime prevention tips.

Authorities reminded the public not to confront suspects if they witness an active theft and instead to call law enforcement immediately. Information can be reported to the Sheriff’s Office non-emergency number or submitted anonymously through local crime tip hotlines.

Officials said community participation is critical in solving package theft cases and added that updates on the investigation will be released through the county’s official communication channels.
