AUSTIN, Texas — Austin Wildlife Rescue (AWR), a nonprofit that rehabilitates and releases injured, sick, and orphaned wild animals, announced it will move its intake center to a new location at 811 E. 13th Street, near I-35. Operations at the new facility will begin Dec. 1, with hours remaining 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.

The intake center, previously on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., is where animals are assessed and receive initial care, including wound treatment, medications, and X-rays. Animals are then transported each night to the organization’s 7,200-square-foot rehabilitation center in Elgin for ongoing care.

Executive Director Jules Maron said the move will make the center more accessible to the public and help AWR manage a growing number of animals in need. So far this year, the organization has taken in more than 10,400 animals.
