Federal authorities arrested about 140 people in San Antonio over several days in a large-scale operation targeting suspected criminal activity, according to attorneys representing immigration cases.

The operation involved multiple federal agencies and took place at several locations in the San Antonio area. Officials said the arrests focused on individuals believed to be in the country without authorization and allegedly linked to criminal groups.

Authorities have not released details about the nationalities, ages, or immigration statuses of those arrested. Attorneys said they are still trying to locate many of the detainees and are reviewing documents and conducting interviews to determine how many were specifically targeted and how many were detained at the scene.

One immigration attorney compared the San Antonio arrests to a previous operation in Austin, in which his former client, who had no criminal ties, was detained at a private birthday party during a law enforcement sweep. In that Austin case, officers transported several attendees to a federal holding facility for processing, and removal proceedings were later initiated despite no criminal charges related to the event.

Federal authorities have not released a full report on the San Antonio operation or the specific allegations against those arrested.
