MANILA, Philippines– Actress Agot Isidro criticized social media users who thanked the Sierra Madre mountain range for shielding Luzon from Typhoon Uwan while continuing to support politicians promoting mining activities.
Through a social media post, Isidro pointed out the contradiction between appreciating the Sierra Madre’s protective role and backing leaders whose policies harm the environment.
The Sierra Madre, the longest mountain range in the Philippines, has long been recognized for reducing the impact of typhoons on Luzon. Environmental advocates have repeatedly called for its protection due to its ecological and disaster-mitigation importance.
Isidro urged voters to be more discerning about their political choices, emphasizing the need to align support with environmental preservation.
