Novak Djokovic will participate in the Shanghai Masters starting on Oct. 4, according to an announcement by the tournament organizers on Tuesday.
The event will take place in Shanghai, China, from Oct. 4 -15.
Djokovic, a four-time champion at this event, is making his return to competitive tennis following his U.S. Open semi-final defeat.
The Shanghai Masters is an ATP Tour Masters 1000 event, played on outdoor hard courts. Djokovic’s participation marks his first tournament since his last appearance at the U.S. Open.
Tournament organizers confirmed his involvement through their social media channels. The Shanghai Masters is significant as it resumes after a hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Other top players, including Carlos Alcaraz and Hubert Hurkacz, are also scheduled to compete in this year’s tournament.
