Italy’s volleyball captain Simone Giannelli stated that upsets at the 2025 FIVB Men’s World Championship in Manila are to be expected, reflecting the unpredictable nature of volleyball.

The tournament, held at the Mall of Asia Arena and Araneta Coliseum, has featured numerous surprising victories by lower-seeded teams over higher-ranked opponents.

Giannelli emphasized that the competitive and dynamic environment of the sport naturally leads to volatile outcomes. He remains unfazed by the unexpected results, viewing them as an integral part of volleyball’s spirit.

Teams across the championship have demonstrated that rankings do not always predict match outcomes.

Fans and analysts continue to follow the tournament closely, enjoying the thrilling and unforeseen twists. As the championship progresses, the matches in Manila continue to highlight the excitement and unpredictability that define international volleyball.
