MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has approved a new round of salary and benefit increases for more than 120,000 regular employees working in 219 government-owned and controlled corporations (GOCCs), officials announced this week.

The Palace said the adjustment is part of ongoing efforts to provide fair and competitive compensation in the public sector.

While the specific details of the salary and benefits increase have not yet been disclosed, officials confirmed that implementation will be carried out systematically across the affected GOCCs.

“This is in recognition of their contribution to government revenue and public service delivery,” officials said during a public briefing on public sector compensation.

The President’s decision aligns with the administration’s broader agenda to enhance public sector performance through improved remuneration and working conditions.

It follows earlier compensation enhancement initiatives for government workers and seeks to ensure that GOCC employees are fairly compensated based on their roles and responsibilities.

Government officials added that the new compensation package is expected to boost employee satisfaction, productivity, and retention, and contribute to a more efficient and motivated workforce.

The salary increase forms part of the government’s wider public sector reform strategy aimed at strengthening institutional capacity and ensuring that government-affiliated corporations remain competitive and performance-driven.
