HOUSTON — Houston Texans player Jimmie Ward is facing a $20 million lawsuit in connection with his arrest in June, according to court filings made public this week.

The legal action stems from circumstances related to Ward’s detainment earlier this year, though specific details of both the arrest and the lawsuit’s claims have not been disclosed.

The Houston Police Department confirmed Ward’s arrest in June. However, officials have not released the reasons for the arrest.

The lawsuit seeks damages totaling $20 million, alleging harm related to the incident. Ward’s legal representatives have not issued a public response.

Texans Head Coach DeMeco Ryans addressed the matter briefly in a statement, urging patience and emphasizing the importance of a fair process.

“We will wait for all the facts to emerge before making any judgment,” Ryans said.

The Houston Texans organization has not issued an official comment on Ward’s arrest or the civil case. The team’s legal counsel is reportedly reviewing the situation as developments continue.

Ward, a veteran defensive back, joined the Texans after multiple seasons with other NFL teams. Known for his on-field performance, he has become a prominent figure in the league. The recent legal proceedings have brought additional public attention to his personal life.

The National Football League has not commented on the situation. The league typically evaluates such incidents under its personal conduct policy and may conduct its own investigation.
