MANILA, Philippines — The University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) has appointed Jai Reyes as the basketball commissioner for Season 88, set to begin next month in Manila.

The UAAP formally announced Reyes’ appointment this week, following a thorough selection process. He will assume his role at the start of the season and is tasked with overseeing tournament operations, ensuring fair play, and implementing improvements to enhance the league’s organization.

Reyes, who has held previous roles in sports management and administration, expressed enthusiasm about his new position and his commitment to developing the UAAP basketball tournament. He emphasized his goal of promoting sportsmanship and competitiveness among the participating collegiate teams.

Season 88 marks a new chapter for UAAP basketball, which remains one of the most prominent events in Philippine collegiate sports. The league anticipates a successful season under Reyes’ leadership, with planned changes aimed at improving the overall quality of the tournament.

The UAAP reaffirmed its dedication to advancing collegiate basketball in the country and highlighted Reyes’ appointment as a step toward strengthening the league’s management and integrity.
