MANILA, Philippines — The Social Weather Stations (SWS) reported that 16.1% of Filipino families experienced involuntary hunger in June 2025, based on survey data collected during the second quarter of the year.

Involuntary hunger, as defined by SWS, refers to experiencing hunger due to lack of food that families could not control. The latest figure marks a decrease from the previous quarter, indicating an improvement in food security among households nationwide.

The survey, conducted through nationwide interviews, used sampling methods to ensure a representative assessment of the population. Results reflect conditions during the April to June period and offer insight into trends related to hunger and poverty.

SWS released the findings in an official report, highlighting the reduction as a significant indicator for evaluating welfare policies.

The data may serve as a reference for government agencies, policymakers, and organizations in planning interventions and addressing food security challenges.
