HOUSTON, Texas – University of Texas track athlete Osawese Agbonkonkon has released a science-fiction novel titled Psychic Suit, marking his debut as an author.
The book, which he began drafting in 2018, is now available to the public through his own publishing house, Songspire Press.
Agbonkonkon, a student-athlete with a 3.8 GPA, balances academics and athletics while pursuing creative work. A Texas native, he founded Songspire Press to maintain full control over the publishing process.
Psychic Suit is a 320-page novel that explores mental health and power through a group of characters called The Psychics, who use their abilities to fight a terrorist organization. The story targets a young adult audience, blending science fiction and fantasy with an emphasis on character development and social themes.
By self-publishing, Agbonkonkon retains creative control and sets a foundation for future literary work. His dual focus on athletics and authorship challenges common expectations of student-athletes and highlights the range of their capabilities.
Psychic Suit has drawn attention within the University of Texas community, where Agbonkonkon’s peers have supported his efforts. The novel expands his profile beyond sports, showing his interest in using fiction to explore complex ideas.
