CEDAR PARK, Texas – The Cedar Park City Council has voted to join Williamson County in the Central Texas Spaceport Development Corporation, a move aimed at advancing aerospace initiatives across the region.
The Central Texas Spaceport Development Corporation is a multi-jurisdictional partnership formed to build infrastructure that supports space-related activities. Cedar Park’s participation is expected to enhance economic development, attract investment, and strengthen the region’s position in the growing aerospace sector.
Cedar Park is already home to Firefly Aerospace, a major player in the industry. The company recently achieved a successful lunar landing and secured a $176 million NASA contract to deliver equipment to the moon’s south pole.
By joining the spaceport development effort, Cedar Park aims to leverage its ties to Firefly Aerospace and collaborate with regional stakeholders to support the construction and maintenance of aerospace facilities.
Officials expect the project to create jobs, drive technological innovation, and position Central Texas as a competitive hub for aerospace activities.
