Seoul, South Korea — The Seoul municipal government announced Wednesday a 100-day special crackdown on taxi drivers who unfairly treat overseas tourists.

Authorities said the initiative will focus on illegal activities such as overcharging, demanding tips, and refusing short rides. Officials plan to monitor areas frequented by tourists and conduct regular inspections during the campaign.

The crackdown responds to an increasing number of complaints from visitors about taxi services and aims to improve Seoul’s reputation as a tourist-friendly city. Drivers found violating regulations will face strict penalties.

The government will also implement educational programs to raise awareness among taxi drivers and provide additional resources to support enforcement efforts. Tourists are encouraged to report any misconduct to local authorities.

Seoul’s tourism organizations expressed support for the initiative, and officials emphasized the city’s commitment to protecting visitors, maintaining service standards, and enhancing its global image as a top travel destination.
