Alas Pilipinas suffered a tough four-set loss to Vietnam on Saturday in the 5th Southeast Asian V.League, held at Terminal 21 Korat.

The final scores stood at 13-25, 21-25, 25-23, 9-25, marking the team’s second defeat against Vietnam in the tournament.

Despite the setback, Vanie Gandler and Eya Laure ignited a spirited comeback in the third set, giving the Philippines a brief 22-21 lead and securing a 25-23 win in that frame. However, the momentum was short-lived as Vietnam quickly regrouped and dominated the fourth set.

The match highlighted Vietnam’s continued dominance in the regional tournament, where they remain a top contender. Alas Pilipinas, meanwhile, continues to search for consistency and cohesion as the team looks ahead to its next matches.

“This game was a lesson for us,” said one team official. “Our players showed resilience, especially in the third set, but we need better execution and coordination to go the distance.”

The SEA V.League, an important fixture in the Southeast Asian volleyball calendar, features national teams from across the region and draws attention from fans and analysts alike. Terminal 21 Korat in Nakhon Ratchasima served as a fitting venue, welcoming international spectators for a thrilling day of volleyball.

Alas Pilipinas is expected to use the loss as a learning experience, with coaches emphasizing team chemistry, stronger starts, and tactical adjustments in upcoming training sessions. The team remains determined to improve its standing in the tournament and make a stronger impression in the matches ahead.

With the competition heating up, all eyes will be on how the Philippine squad responds in its next appearances.
