A man linked to a series of armed robberies across North Texas has received a 60-year prison sentence.

The federal court handed down the sentence to Charles Brownlee, who was involved in a spree of robberies targeting cash loan businesses in the Fort Worth metroplex.

Authorities connected Brownlee to five robberies executed over a two-week period from May 9 to May 21, 2024. He faced multiple charges including Hobbs Act Conspiracy and using a firearm during a crime of violence. The court also imposed a restitution order of $21,123.47 on Brownlee.

The robberies took place in multiple cities within the North Texas region, specifically targeting cash loan businesses. Brownlee employed various disguises, including wearing a medical mask, to prevent identification during the commission of these crimes.

His arrest and subsequent conviction come as part of efforts to crack down on armed robberies in the area, which have shown a troubling pattern involving similar businesses.
