Victor Wembanyama, center for the San Antonio Spurs, has been medically cleared to return to action after being sidelined due to a diagnosis of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) in his right shoulder.
The 21-year-old French player confirmed his medical clearance on Monday in an interview with French publication L’Equipe, with the news independently verified by ESPN and MySA.com.
Wembanyama, who had been out of action since February due to the serious condition, expressed his readiness to return, stating, “I’m officially cleared to return.”
DVT, which involves the formation of a blood clot in a deep vein, can lead to pain, swelling, and potentially affect circulation, making the recovery process crucial for the young athlete.
The Spurs, who have missed Wembanyama’s defensive and offensive contributions during his absence, are expected to reintegrate him into their lineup following his recovery and medical clearance.
