KERR COUNTY, Texas — President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump arrived in Kerr County on Friday to survey the widespread devastation caused by severe flooding in the Texas Hill Country.

The disaster has claimed at least 96 lives in the county, with many individuals still reported missing.

The presidential visit came shortly after a federal disaster declaration, which aims to expedite federal assistance to affected areas. During their visit, the President and First Lady toured impacted communities, met with local officials, and offered condolences to residents who lost loved ones and homes in the floods.

President Trump pledged full federal support for recovery, noting that the disaster declaration would make available funding for temporary housing, home repairs, and low-interest loans for uninsured property losses.

“The federal government stands with Texas during this time of need,” Trump told officials during the visit. “We will work hand-in-hand with Governor Abbott and local leaders to ensure that every resource is made available to help rebuild these communities.”

The Hill Country flooding is part of a broader pattern of extreme weather in the region. Meteorologists are examining the weather systems that led to the excessive rainfall, and state officials are reviewing infrastructure vulnerabilities exposed by the disaster.

Authorities continue to monitor weather forecasts as additional rain remains a possibility. Emergency officials are urging residents to remain alert, follow safety advisories, and avoid flooded areas.
