A group of 75 Filipinos is set to return to the Philippines on Sunday under a repatriation initiative by the Philippine government in Lebanon, prompted by escalating regional tensions and violence, with 1,191 Filipinos already brought home.

The Department of Migrant Workers made the announcement on Saturday, confirming that the group of Filipino workers would be arriving at Ninoy Aquino International Airport. This repatriation is part of a broader effort to ensure the safety of Filipino citizens amid the escalating conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, which has led to airstrikes and heightened risk in the area.

The crisis in Lebanon erupted as tensions between Israel and the Hezbollah militant group continue to rise. This conflict has placed many civilians, including foreign nationals living and working in Lebanon, at significant risk. The Philippine government has been actively monitoring the situation and facilitating the safe return of its citizens.

The Department of Foreign Affairs, in collaboration with the Philippine Embassy in Lebanon, has been coordinating the repatriation efforts. They have provided support and assistance to Filipinos wishing to leave the country, ensuring safe passage to the airport and arranging flights back to the Philippines.

The repatriation program has been ongoing since the conflict began to escalate. The government has prioritized the safety and welfare of its citizens abroad, offering assistance to those in conflict zones. The Department of Migrant Workers has emphasized its commitment to ensuring the safe return of all Filipino nationals in Lebanon who wish to return home.

The arrival of these 75 Filipinos marks another step in the repatriation process, which will continue as needed. The government has urged Filipinos in Lebanon to remain in contact with the embassy and to heed official advisories. They have also encouraged those who have not yet availed of the repatriation program to consider doing so.

The Department of Foreign Affairs has highlighted the importance of remaining vigilant and informed during such times of unrest. They have made resources available to provide information and assistance to Filipino nationals, ensuring their concerns and needs are addressed promptly.

With the repatriation efforts continuing, the Philippine government remains focused on its commitment to the safety and well-being of its citizens overseas. The situation in Lebanon is being closely monitored, and further repatriations will be organized as necessary.

As the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah continues to unfold, the safety of foreign workers and residents remains a primary concern. The Philippine government has reiterated its dedication to supporting its citizens during this challenging time and providing them with the necessary means to return home safely.
