SAN ANTONIO, Texas– A 20-year-old man, Jeremiah Daniel Leivas, faces charges of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl in Bexar County, Texas. Officials report the incident occurred in June.

Leivas allegedly met the teenage girl on Snapchat. The girl’s father confronted Leivas upon discovering the situation. According to the father, Leivas attempted to flee the scene.

Despite this, the father captured a photograph of Leivas’ vehicle license plate, crucial in leading investigators to the suspect.

Authorities arrested Leivas and charged him with sexual assault of a child. The case has drawn attention to the potential dangers of social media platforms like Snapchat, where individuals can meet and engage in risky interactions.

The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office is handling the investigation. Law enforcement officials emphasize the importance of parental oversight on social media usage by minors.

Social media platforms continue to face scrutiny regarding the safety and security of underage users. The current case highlights the ongoing concerns surrounding online interactions between adults and minors.

The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office urges parents to monitor their children’s online activities closely. They recommend parents engage in open conversations with their children about internet safety.

The sheriff’s office also encourages anyone with information related to similar cases to come forward. Tips from the public can be instrumental in preventing further incidents.

Officials remind the public that individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
