Disney and Lucasfilm have released the first official trailer for The Mandalorian and Grogu, marking the return of the Star Wars franchise to theaters for the first time since 2019.

The film is scheduled for release in the United States on May 22, 2026.

Directed by Jon Favreau and co-written by Favreau and Dave Filoni, the movie will continue the story of Din Djarin and Grogu, known from the Disney+ series The Mandalorian.

Set in the post-Empire era of the Star Wars timeline, the film builds on the narrative established in the original trilogy and extended in the streaming series.

The Mandalorian and Grogu is the first theatrical Star Wars feature since The Rise of Skywalker, which premiered in December 2019.

Favreau and Filoni have played leading creative roles in recent Star Wars productions. Their continued collaboration aims to offer content that appeals to long-time fans while introducing the universe to new audiences.

With high expectations for box office performance and critical interest, The Mandalorian and Grogu represents the next chapter in the evolving Star Wars legacy.
