MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has announced the sale of old precinct count optical scanner (PCOS) machines, generating proceeds of PHP 12 million.
In an en banc resolution, Comelec Chair George Garcia confirmed the successful transaction involving these machines, which were deemed unserviceable after more than ten years of service.
The Comelec Disposal Committee was responsible for overseeing the sale of these defunct machines. The committee adhered to the guidelines and procedures that govern the disposal of government property.
The PCOS machines involved in this sale were initially used in previous Philippine elections.
The PHP 12 million proceeds from the sale of these machines will be allocated to various projects aimed at improving the electoral process.
