Austin woman charged with capital murder in death of her baby

AUSTIN, Texas — An Austin woman has been charged with capital murder following the tragic death of her 6-week-old infant.

The Austin Police Department said the child was discovered unresponsive at the family’s residence.

Emergency services were immediately called to the scene, where attempts were made to revive the infant. Despite these efforts, the baby was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The mother was taken into custody shortly after the incident.

Authorities have not disclosed the events that led to her arrest for capital murder.

The police department has stated that they are gathering evidence and interviewing potential witnesses.
