AUSTIN, Texas — A robbery at a 7-Eleven in South Austin has prompted the Austin Police Department (APD) to request public assistance in identifying the suspect involved.
The incident occurred at a convenience store located on South Lamar Boulevard, which is one of the busiest areas in the city.
APD reports that the suspect entered the 7-Eleven late in the evening, approaching the store counter under the pretense of purchasing items.
According to eyewitness accounts, the individual suddenly turned hostile, attacking the store employee on duty.
The suspect physically assaulted the employee, leading to minor injuries. The suspect then proceeded to grab various items from the store shelves, including food and beverages, before fleeing the scene. The entire incident was captured on the store’s surveillance system, which has provided vital information to the police.
The suspect is described as a male in his mid-20s with an athletic build. He was wearing a blue hoodie and dark jeans at the time of the robbery. Witnesses noted that he had distinctive tattoos on his left arm, which could be a key identifying feature. APD is using this footage and witness descriptions to advance the investigation.
