MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) in collaboration with the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) has embarked on a pioneering initiative aimed at addressing water security concerns in the Philippines.

The collaboration between DOST and UPLB seeks to explore new methods and technologies for sustainable water management.

The partnership is set to undertake research and develop innovative solutions that can potentially transform water utilization and conservation practices across the nation.

The research initiative is focused on developing new technology for efficient water usage. This includes creating systems that can better capture and store rainwater, treating wastewater for reuse, and implementing smart irrigation techniques in agriculture.

These technologies are intended to optimize water use and reduce waste, ensuring that the available water is used in the most effective manner.

Funding for this initiative comes from both national and international sources, reflecting the global concern over water scarcity issues.

The DOST and UPLB are working with international organizations to share knowledge and resources, ensuring that the project benefits from a wide range of expertise and experience.
