Sexual abuse suspect from Bastrop found in Panama, arrested in Austin

AUSTIN, Texas – A Bastrop man accused of continuous sexual abuse of a child has been caught in Panama and extradited to Austin.

The Bastrop County Sheriff’s Office had issued a warrant for the arrest of Henry Torres, 60 years old, following allegations of ongoing sexual abuse against a minor.

Reports indicate that the suspect fled the United States amid the investigation, seeking refuge in Panama.

Panamanian authorities collaborated with U.S. officials in locating and subsequently detaining the suspect.

Upon his return to the United States, the individual was promptly arrested and taken into custody by local law enforcement in Austin.

The arrest signals the culmination of a dedicated effort by authorities to bring the suspect back to face the charges against him.
