HOUSTON, Texas –A man from East Texas has been sentenced to 50 years in prison after being convicted of using Facebook to arrange sexual encounters with children.

Gary Kenneth Rumbaugh, 57, entered a guilty plea to charges of online solicitation of a minor under 14 years old on Thursday in the 115th District Court in Gilmer.

Authorities have confirmed that Rumbaugh utilized the social media platform to engage in illicit activities with minors.

He confessed to having sexual interactions with multiple young children.

Prosecutors from the District Attorney’s Office stated that while the convicted man admitted to these acts, they have not yet identified all the victims involved in this case.

The DA’s Office is urging anyone with information to come forward and assist in identifying these victims.

The court proceedings revealed that the accused had a history of engaging with minors through deceptive means, capitalizing on the anonymity that social media platforms can sometimes provide.
