MANILA, Philippines –Vice President Sara Duterte is considering hiring a private security agency for her personal protection following her announcement of losing trust in government security services.

Duterte earlier stated that she would not accept replacement soldiers for her security detail from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

“If no security personnel will be left with me since they will be pulled out, then we will seek security arrangements outside the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP),” Duterte said.

This could mean hiring 440 private bodyguards for Duterte.

Duterte’s potential decision to hire private security services sheds light on her current security strategy and priorities.
