DOST earns spot in Guinness for largest bamboo planting event

MANILA, Philippines –The country has earned a spot in the Guinness World Records for organizing the largest bamboo planting event across multiple locations on October 18.

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST), alongside various partners, spearheaded the initiative.

The event saw a remarkable 2,305 individuals engage in planting bamboo simultaneously.

Participants gathered in 19 different locations across Mindanao and the Leyte province.

The choice of bamboo for this record-breaking attempt highlights its potential as a sustainable resource.

Bamboo is known for its rapid growth and versatility, making it a valuable asset in combating environmental issues like deforestation and climate change.
