WHITE SETTLEMENT, Texas –A man faces serious charges after police discovered an alarming cache of weapons and explosive devices inside his vehicle.
According to an incident report, the man had plans to target a local church with these weapons.
The White Settlement Police Department, assisted by the Fort Worth Fire Department Bomb Squad, conducted a thorough search of the man’s van. They uncovered several improvised explosive devices and multiple firearms, including a handgun that was found in the suspect’s possession.
Upon further inspection, three out of the eight devices located inside the van were identified as destructive.
The police report indicated that the man initially caught the attention of officers due to his erratic behavior.
When officers engaged in conversation with him, they became concerned about his mental health. Authorities noted that the man appeared to be facing mental health challenges. This concern led officers to approach the situation with caution, ultimately managing to remove the man from his vehicle when he was not holding the handgun.
The man, whose name has not been disclosed pending further investigation, reportedly confessed to planning an attack on a local church.
He was taken into custody and transported to a nearby medical facility for mental health evaluation.
